WASHINGTON, D.C., December 3, 2009 – During the holiday season, one thing you don’t want to do is give the gift of germs.
The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA – www.cleaning101.com) has created a coloring sheet for kids and a list of hygiene reminders to help us stay healthy during the holidays.
Parents can download “Clean Your Paws for Santa Claus!” on SDA’s website at www.cleaning101.com.
“Children can do their part to help keep Santa healthy by cleaning their hands before they jump on his lap,” said Nancy Bock, SDA Vice President of Education.
With National Handwashing Awareness Week taking place December 6-12, SDA reminds families to wash their hands with soap and warm water, scrubbing for 20 seconds, especially:
- When preparing food
- Before meals and snacks
- After using the restroom
- After touching animals
- When your hands are dirty
- When you or someone around you is ill
“When soap and water are not available, use a portable hand sanitizer or hand wipes to help keep your hands clean,” added SDA’s Nancy Bock.
SDA has extensive hand hygiene education materials available online at www.cleaning101.com/HandHygiene.
